EID AL-FITR GREETINGS: REFLECTIONS ON FRIENDSHIP ACROSS COMMUNITIES

Council Member Justine Zwerling, Co-Founder of Gulf Israel Women’s Forum, Founding Member of UAE Israel Business Council, and Founder of the Jewish Women’s Business Network, shares a special message for Eid Al-Fitr. Muslims around the world are marking the end of a month of fasting, spiritual reflection, and discipline, and celebrating with joy, generosity, and community.

Shalom שלום Salam  سلام from the hills of Jerusalem, where the spring flowers are blooming, and birds are singing.

Warmest greetings to our global Muslim brothers and sisters and your precious families on the holy eve of Eid al-Fitr!

After a month of devoted fasting, prayer, restraint, mindfulness, charitable deeds, and spiritual reflection, I hope you enjoy breaking the fast together with gratitude for community, family, and the shared joy of worship.

I had the great honor to join my family friends in Abu Dhabi to break the fast a few years ago. We cooked, shared recipes, and delighted in the magic of being together, all while enjoying the exquisite scent of the Ramadan candles. We were profoundly honored to visit the Grand Mosque, established by the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan, along with my family and my dear friend and inspiration, Avi Solomon. Avi was the first fully blind marathon runner to complete the Abu Dhabi Marathon with his running guides in 3 hours and 22 minutes!  We are all still mesmerized by the spiritual glow and harmony we experience during that visit.

Eid Al-Fitr is a joyous time to celebrate the balance between individual devotion and collective well-being, togetherness, the precious empathy, and continued support for those of us who have less.

From our home to your home, may we share in the delights of these special moments. Eid Mubarak, eternal light, friendship, and blessings to you all
